Old Dominion Squirrel & Coon Club

Stop by the Old Dominion Squirrel & Coon Club website! Our events are fun and family oriented. They are a great way to meet other cur and feist enthusiasts and watch other people's dogs "go" in the timber.

ODSCC WEBSITE (click here)

At this time, this is the only club in Virginia while others have existed in the past and may again in the future. If you want to see what's out there and "talk dogs" drop by and see us!

Updated the website!

Check out the website! Made some updates that I hope y'all will enjoy. There is information about what I currently have available and on the home page, I posted a short account of how I got into feist dogs. Also, I added Penny and Rosie to the "Females" page.

Steve Thomas' Dixie - Daisy's daughter

Just wanted to share a "clone" of my female, Gray's Prairie Daisy. This is Steve Thomas' Dixie. Steve lives up in Maryland and says Dixie is treeing her own squirrels. Her sire is GRSQCH TRCH Banjo Joe's Squirt. Her littermate sister, Gray's Annie Oakley is now givin' the squirrels in Tennessee a run for their money!

Six Shooter Simon x Gray's Prairie Daisy

Folks:

Just wanted to give everyone an update that asked about pups out of Daisy. Daisy had her pups out of Simon yesterday. There are 6...4 males and 2 females.

Simon is owned by Keith Bowman in NC now and he has been workin' him. Daisy is a good squirrel dog and attentive mother. I am excited about the potential of this cross to make squirrel dogs!
Pups will be NKC registered and $250. I have a couple deposits ($50) already but am still accepting them. This is going to be the last litter I have out of Daisy for AT LEAST a year.

Daisy's 2011 pups are here!

Folks:

I will post pictures ASAP but just wanted to let y'all know that Daisy had her pups this morning. I will make certain I know the details (i.e., sex, colors, numbers) this afternoon and post them as updates here on the blog.

This will likely be the last litter I have from Daisy for a year or so. So, if you or anyone you know want a pup out of Daisy let me know.

Thanks!

Expedition Deep into Appalachia!

Made an expedition yesterday into the heart of the squirrel dog homeland to bring a couple prospects home. There was a crazy thunderstorm while I was out in the mountains!

Above is a pup I am calling Rosie (GRSQCH Jay's Joe Black x Riffe's Sadie).

This one is Gray's Kentucky Penny (Yellow Mountain Copper x Comb's China II). She is a 1/2 sister and then some of my foundation feist female, SQCH CH Kentucky Jody. Plan on working her hard and huntin' the hair off her! Penny is very similar to Jody but is a little bigger dog. Somewhat heavier boned and a longer back. I have high hopes for her. Today we had a big lesson in socialization.

Update on Gray's Six Shooter Simon in NC

Simon is doing well in North Carolina. I received a few pictures of him treeing. He is the sire of my upcoming litter with Gray's Prairie Daisy. Might have to buy him back down the road! ;)

Gray's Kit Carson trees his first squirrel!

Carson has been spending the last couple weeks in "squirrel camp" at a friend of mine's house. In other words, an area where he can be worked daily and taking out in the timber twice a day. Not an official training facility just a different schedule that coincides better with squirrel activity than I have had lately.

He has been progressing (ranging out farther, etc. since he got there) and has the opportunity to socialize with other dogs and people so he is well-rounded. For those of you that have visited my farm, I live somewhat in seclusion! haha

He treed his first squirrel yesterday! I am sure he will continue to progress to be a great squirrel dog like his ancestors.

Hope to have some pictures soon!

Gray's Bella Starr

Bella is a Treeing Cur pup that is about 14 weeks old. She is one of my spring/summer projects. I am going to get her started and perhaps sell her this summer/fall in time for the regular squirrel season.

Have had her out in the timber a couple times and she is a well-socialized, smart pup. Very attentive. She actually chased a squirrel on our second outing. Not too bad for as young as she is!
